Acts 2:42 Small Group Bible Study

Acts 2: 42 reads, “They (the first converts to become followers of Jesus after receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost) devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

This is how the church began as the Holy Spirit went to work in their lives. And from this simple formula we are told, “day by day the Lord added to their number.” (vs. 47)

Acts 2: 42 Small Groups are groups of 8 – 12 who gather once a month for one year. They gather for an hour to pray, build a relationship, and study the scriptures (the Gospel of John). They are committed to praying for each other every day (as prayer partners), doing acts of service for others, intentionally inviting others into the ministry and mission of the church, and helping to start another Acts 2: 42 Small Group in a year.

Book of Faith Bible Studies

As a Book of Faith congregation of the ELCA, Central Lutheran is committed to being a people of the Word through:

1. Encouraging everyone to bring their Bible to church

2. Opening and discussing Scripture at our meetings

3. Introducing effective ways to encourage regular Bible reading

4. Sharing regularly how the Word of God shapes our lives

5. Assessing how well we are doing as we encourage people to open scripture and join the conversation

A Book of Faith Bible Study meets on Sunday mornings at 9:15. Often the Bible Studies are based on the preaching text used in worship.
