Garden Walk
CLC members who are interested in gardening are invited to attend an educational event in Fountain City. This will take place May 10th, which is one week before the CLC plant sale. It will start at 9:30 am and last until approx. 11:30 am. Jan Varner will lead a demonstration on how to split perennials. She will talk about how and when to split them. Those interested could do some and pot them. Afterwards we will have a walk around the gardens. Please sign-up on the sheet in the narthex if you will be attending. The directions to Jan’s house are as follows: If you’re coming from Winona, turn left after coming off the bridge in Wis. on 35 by the Spur Station. On your way toward Ft. City, you will see a sign that says YY. Here you will turn right & go about 1/4 mile. You will see a housing development on the left, a brown fence, & you turn here. We are the first house on the right. Jan & Jerry Varner 687-7902.

How To Aggregate Syndicated Content

News Aggregators, or Newsreaders reduce the time and effort needed to regularly check websites for updates, creating a unique information space or "personal newspaper." The user of a news aggregator program can individually subscribe to the content of their choice, and new information is clearly displayed in a single location from multiple subscriptions.

There are many newsreaders available, and it can be hard to sift through the choices if you are unfamili class="li"ar with this technology. I'll offer these two suggestions that will help you get started quickly and easily:

The new version if Microsoft Internet Explorer, IE7, comes packaged with with an integrated newsreader. IE7 is available for download from Microsoft.

Here's what Google has to say about their own new newsreader:

Google Reader makes it easier to keep up with your ever-expanding reading list of content from across the web. You can:

  • Automatically get the latest news and updates from your favorite sites.
  • Sort your reading li class="li"st based on what's most relevant to you.
  • Organize what you read with labels and stars.
  • Quickly share interesting items with friends via email or by blogging them, directly from Reader.

Try it now to get a jump on your reading list.
