Central gathers around Word & Sacrament (Holy Communion) at every opportunity. Whether in spirit-filled song, active listening, or kneeling in prayer, Central invites full, active worship participation. Here are some of the ways you can enter into Central’s Worship Ministries.
Contact our Director of Worship, Music & Arts with any questions by calling the church office at 507.452.5156 or by email.
Acolytes are among the most important ministers in worship. Acolytes help set the mood for worship by lighting of candles, leading processions, and gathering offerings. Other ministers and the entire congregation rely on Acolytes to carry out their ministry with confidence. Currently Acolytes are selected from Wednesday Night Workshop, Central’s Confirmation ministry (7th – 9th Grade).
Altar Guild plays an essential role in worship. Members lovingly prepare the communion table by setting out the linens and vessels, and the bread and the wine for Holy Communion. Altar Guild then clears and cleans up after worship.
Assisting Ministers are thoughtful Masters-of-Ceremony at worship. They assist the pastor by overseeing the details: acolytes, lectors, communion setup, leading the Prayers.
Central Lutheran serves some of the tastiest communion bread this side of heaven! Baking communion bread is simple and is a great “behind the scenes” way to contribute. Our bakers rotate so the time invested is manageable. Interested in baking for your church? Contact the church office by email.
Communion Assistants have the honor of feeding the disciples of Jesus who gather for worship.
Lectors & Readers
Lectors proclaim the First & Second readings at worship, preparing the way for the minister’s proclamation of Christ’s Gospel.
Singers & Musicians
Lutherans love to sing and Central is no exception. Sunday’s worship music is led by Sunrise Singers (8:15 am) and the Cantorei [KAN-toe-rye] at 10:15 am. Contact our Director of Worship, Music & Arts with any questions or to sign up email
Ushers & Greeters
It’s all about hospitality. When someone visits your home, you meet them at the door, help them get settled, find a place for their coat and, in general, make sure they are provided with all the things that will make their visit enjoyable. This is the ministry of Ushering and Greeting at Central.
