Central Lutheran Church in beautiful Winona, Minnesota seeks a full-time Director of Youth Ministries to accompany, encourage, and engage youth on their faith journey through a wide range of education & youth programs.
Develop Middle School & High School ministries which encourage a life of Discipleship. Include leading confirmation program and youth mission trips to assist youth in putting their faith into practice.
Forge meaningful relationships with youth, parents, staff, and volunteers.
Provide a positive role model for the spiritual, moral, and social development of youth.
Strategies & Tactics
Be present in the congregation, participate in Sundayworship as a primary source of engagement with youth and their families.
Collaborate with youth committee, pastors, staff, and volunteers to seek creative means to encourage lives of discipleship in youth and their families, including:
Be visible at community youth events
Initiate, develop, and implement venues for fostering faith formation.
Plan youth & family activities, outings, service opportunities, and confirmation.
Stay current with and encourage participation with relevant activities, events, and workshops in the SE MN Synod, the ELCA, Lutheran colleges and Bible camps, and related organizations.
Attend Staff and Youth Committee meetings. Provide monthly reports for the Council and write an article for the monthly newsletter.
Create a plan for professional development, continuing education, and personal renewal.
May be assigned additional responsibilities from time to time.
Qualities & Requirements
Demonstrate a strong relationship with Jesus Christ, a shepherd’s heart for the team and for building well-rounded and healthy relationships with young people in and outside of worship experiences.
Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Certificate, or equivalent experience in Youth Ministry or elementary or secondary education.
Able to lead and teach prayer and Bible study as well as discuss moral dilemmas.
Be savvy with social media, but biased towards face to face communication. Know when to listen and when to cheerlead.
Hold strong interpersonal, organizational, technical, verbal and written communication skills. Be self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Work a flexible schedule and be organized in the management of time, tasks, resources, and money. Successful completion of a background check is required prior to employment.
This is a full-time, non-ordained position providing a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with experience. Candidate will enter into an existing confirmation and youth program with ongoing member and parental support.
The start date is flexible.
